France’s Réseau National de Surveillance Sismique (RéNaSS) reported a magnitude 2.5 quake in France near Haguenau, Bas-Rhin, Grand Est, only 11 minutes ago. The earthquake hit in the evening on Friday, December 12th, 2025, at 8:01 pm local time at a very shallow depth of 6.59 km. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
A second report was later issued by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), which listed it as a magnitude 2.4 earthquake.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Betschdorf (pop. 4,000) located 3 km from the epicenter. In Haguenau (pop. 38,700, 14 km away), Rastatt (pop. 47,900, 20 km away), Baden-Baden (pop. 55,400, 27 km away), Bischheim (pop. 17,400, 34 km away), Schiltigheim (pop. 32,300, 35 km away), Strasbourg (pop. 274,800, 38 km away), Lingolsheim (pop. 17,300, 42 km away), and Illkirch-Graffenstaden (pop. 27,300, 44 km away), the quake was probably not felt.

If you felt it, report it through our site or app right now!
