An earthquake of magnitude 4.5 occurred only 7 minutes ago 87 km northwest of Amahai, Indonesia, Indonesia’s Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency reported.
The quake hit at a shallow depth of 10. km beneath the epicenter near Amahai, Kabupaten Maluku Tengah, Maluku, Indonesia, in the afternoon on Friday, November 28th, 2025, at 4:37 pm local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
A second report was later issued by the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake, which listed it as a magnitude 4.5 earthquake as well.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Amahai (pop. 47,700) located 87 km from the epicenter, Masohi (pop. 36,400) 88 km away, and Ambon (pop. 347,300) 105 km away.

An earthquake of magnitude 3.4 occurred only 22 minutes ago 14 miles southwest of Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada, the United States Geological Survey reported.
The quake hit at a very shallow depth of 2.3 miles beneath the epicenter near Kelowna, Regional District of Central Okanagan, British Columbia, Canada, late at night on Thursday, November 27th, 2025, at 11:19 pm local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Peachland (pop. 5,000) located 6 miles from the epicenter, Summerland (pop. 11,600) 8 miles away, and Naramata (pop. 1,600) 8 miles away.
