Up to one half foot (9.0 to 9.5 feet MLLW) of saltwater inundation above ground level is possible in low lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways. * WHERE…Northern Humboldt Coast County. This includes King Salmon, the Arcata Bottoms and areas right on the waterfront in Eureka. * WHEN…Wednesday morning. Additional flooding is possible Thursday morning. * IMPACTS…Several coastal roads may be closed. Low lying property and some critical infrastructure will be inundated. Some shoreline erosion may occur. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS…Minor flooding is possible Tuesday with tides reaching near 8.8 above MLLW.

Overview: A low-level circulation (Invest 90W) is now centered near 9N145E after slow west-northwestward motion the past 24 hours and is now the subject of a Tropical Cyclone Formation Alert from the Joint Typhoon Warning Center. This means the formation of a tropical cyclone is likely within the next 24 hours. This system is expected to move northwest before turning west-northwest near or south of the Marianas. Winds: Increasingly gusty easterly winds will become southeasterly Wednesday night into Thursday with sustained winds of 20 to 30 mph, with gusts to 40 mph possible.
