Minor flooding of mainly small creeks and streams, and possibly some rural roads is likely ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the Advisory area, due to between 1 and 2 inches of rain that have already fallen mostly in the last hour, and the potential for another 1 to 2 inches to fall

At 621 PM MDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 16 miles south of Pritchett, or 26 miles southwest of Springfield, moving northeast at 20 mph. HAZARD…Wind gusts up to 50 mph and penny size hail. SOURCE…Radar indicated. IMPACT…Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. This storm will remain over mainly rural areas of southwestern Baca and eastern Las Animas Counties.

At 720 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 7 miles east of Forest Center, or 30 miles southwest of Gunflint Lake, moving east at 25 mph. HAZARD…60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail. SOURCE…Radar indicated. IMPACT…Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees. This severe thunderstorm will remain over mainly rural areas of west central Cook and east central Lake Counties, including the following locations… Kawishiwi Lake, Silver Island Lake, Perent Lake, Sawbill Lake, Alton Lake, and Phoebe Lake.

At 719 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1.5 and 3 inches of rain have fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 0.5 to 1.5 inches in 1 hour. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD…Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE…Radar. IMPACT…Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.
