Indonesia’s Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency reported a magnitude 4.7 quake in Indonesia near Manado, Kota Manado, Sulawesi Utara, only 6 minutes ago. The earthquake hit in the morning on Thursday, November 27th, 2025, at 8:00 am local time at an intermediate depth of 71. km. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake which listed the quake at magnitude 4.7 as well.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Tondano (pop. 33,300) located 43 km from the epicenter.
Other towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Tomohon (pop. 27,600) located 50 km from the epicenter, Bitung (pop. 225,100) 55 km away, Bitung (pop. 137,400) 58 km away, Laikit, Laikit II (Dimembe) (pop. 8,000) 61 km away, and Manado (pop. 451,900) 64 km away.
