A band of snow along a cold front is currently making its way through Southwestern Montana. As this snowfall band pushes through the area, be prepared for a sudden drop in visibility, suddenly gusty winds, and a potential for a flash freeze as temperatures rapidly drop once the snow begins. If you will be traveling, particularly on Interstate 90 between Homestake Pass near Butte and Bozeman Pass, remain alert for any Snow Squall Warnings and for sudden changes in road conditions. Ensure your headlights are on and give yourself extra following distance.

An earthquake of magnitude 4.8 occurred after midnight on Tuesday, November 25th, 2025, at 12:30 am local time near Bireun, Bireuën Regency, Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam Province, Indonesia, as reported by Indonesia’s Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency.
According to preliminary data, the quake was located at a shallow depth of 10. km. Shallow earthquakes are felt more strongly than deeper ones as they are closer to the surface. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
A second report was later issued by the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake, which listed it as a magnitude 4.8 earthquake as well.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Bireun (pop. 47,700) located 30 km from the epicenter, Lhokseumawe (pop. 196,100) 47 km away, and Reuleuet (pop. 40,400) 64 km away.
Other towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Sigli (pop. 17,500) located 104 km from the epicenter, and Meulaboh
