The hazardous conditions are going to impact commutes through Friday evening. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS…The heaviest band of lake effect snow is expected to impact parts of US-131 between Elmira and Fife Lake… and I-75 just north of Waters (exit 270)

Winds gusting as high as 40 mph. * WHERE…Portage county. * WHEN…Until 7 PM EST Friday. * IMPACTS…Whiteout conditions are expected within lake effect snow bands and will make travel treacherous and potentially life- threatening. The hazardous conditions will impact the Thanksgiving holiday travel. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS…The heaviest snow is expected tonight and early Friday. Snowfall rates will likely reach 1 inch per hour at times within bands over northern portions of the county.
