ANCHORAGE, Alaska – The deadline to apply for federal help is rapidly approaching for Alaskans who suffered losses in areas affected by the severe storms, flooding and remnants of Typhoon Halong Oct. 8-13, 2025.

You have until Dec. 22 to apply for help from FEMA. That is just two weeks away. 

Ways to apply: 

Call the dedicated Alaska Call Center at 1-866-342-1699. It is open 9 a.m.-5:30 p.m. weekdays and 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday. Yup’ik interpreters are available 1-5 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday, and 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday. Register on DisasterAssistance.gov.Get the FEMA App and submit your application directly through the app.

Survivors are encouraged to register for both State and FEMA Individual Assistance programs to maximize their recovery benefits.

To apply for state Individual Assistance, visit www.ready.alaska.gov/ia or call 1-844-445-7131. The deadline for that program is Jan. 8. 

To apply for a physical damage low-interest loan with the Small Business Administration, visit sba.gov/disaster, contact by email at [email protected] or call 1-800-659-2955 for information. SBA offers disaster loans to homeowners, renters, businesses and nonprofits. The deadline to apply is Dec. 22.

This position is centered on computational neuroscience and engineering with emphasis on Biomolecular Networks Supporting Brain Function and Health. One to two exciting post-doctoral research associate positions are available for individuals interested to pursue scholarly research in transportation engineering at Western Kentucky University (WKU), particularly in transportation safety (crash analysis). Candidates need to demonstrate prior experience and publication record in prestigious journals specialized in traffic safety as part of their resume, such as: Accident Analysis & Prevention, Transportation Research Record, Journal of Safety Research, Safety Science, ASCE: Journal of Transportation Engineering, Traffic Injury Prevention, etc. The position is secured for one year, with the possibility of extension pending satisfactory performance and funding availability. The duties include the following:

– Work on several transportation safety grants sponsored by the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC or the Kentucky DOT), including motorcycle safety, distracted driving crashes, roundabout and Restricted Crossing U-Turn (RCUT) intersection safety, and application of artificial intelligence and machine learning techniques
