At 423 PM MDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 8 miles east of Pinon, or 14 miles north of Pueblo Airport, moving southeast at 10 mph. HAZARD…60 mph wind gusts and half dollar size hail. SOURCE…Radar indicated. IMPACT…Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees. This severe thunderstorm will remain over mainly rural areas of southern El Paso and northern Pueblo Counties.

At 322 PM PDT, Doppler radar was tracking a cluster of strong thunderstorms near Unity Dam, or 18 miles southwest of Baker City, moving southeast at 15 mph. HAZARD…Wind gusts up to 40 mph and penny size hail. Frequent lightning. SOURCE…Radar indicated. IMPACT…Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is possible. Locations impacted include… Unity, Dooley Summit, Unity Reservoir, and Unity Dam.

Current atmospheric conditions support the development of funnel clouds. Usually, these funnel clouds can form from showers and weak thunderstorms. These funnels are normally brief, drop only a few hundred feet from the cloud base, and rarely become a tornado or cause damage. However, if one is spotted, please immediately report it to the National Weather Service. If a tornado warning would become necessary, take appropriate action.
