An earthquake of magnitude 4.4 occurred only 25 minutes ago 83 km northeast of La Palma Sola, Mexico, the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake reported.
The quake hit at a shallow depth of 11.70 km beneath the epicenter near La Palma Sola, La Paz, Estado de Baja California Sur, Mexico, after midnight on Sunday, August 17th, 2025, at 12:56 am local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include La Palma Sola (pop. 23) located 83 km from the epicenter, Campo Pesquero el Colorado (pop. 2,900) 84 km away, Las Grullas Margen Izquierda (pop. 2,600) 85 km away, and Higuera de Zaragoza (pop. 9,600) 92 km away.
