Just 30 minutes ago, a 2.6-magnitude earthquake struck near Armenia, Quindio Department, Colombia. The tremor was recorded after midnight on Thursday, August 14th, 2025, at 12:42 am local time, at a very shallow depth of 2. km below the surface.
The event was filed by The Colombian Geological Service (SGC), the first seismological agency to report it.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake which listed the quake at magnitude 2.6 as well.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Armenia (pop. 304,300) located 3 km from the epicenter, and Calarca (pop. 79,600) 4 km away.
Other towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Montenegro (pop. 42,000) located 11 km from the epicenter, Circasia (pop. 27,100) 13 km away, and La Tebaida (pop. 27,100) 14 km away. In Quimbaya (pop. 35,400, 16 km away), Dosquebradas (pop. 206,700, 37 km away), Dos Quebradas (pop. 179,600, 37 km away), and Ibague (pop. 529,600, 49 km away), the quake was probably not felt.
