Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. – Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. – Some locations that will experience flooding include… Roosevelt and I-10 Near The Sutton-Kimble County Line. – This includes Interstate 10 between Mile Markers

The hazardous conditions could impact the Thursday morning commute. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS…Light precipitation is making it over the mountains this morning, mainly east of and along the Seward and Glenn Highways. A warm layer aloft is producing freezing rain, but should precipitation become heavy enough, snow may mix in at times. * WHAT…A long period northwesterly swell will result in an increased risk for sneaker waves and rip currents. Breaking waves of 13 to 18 feet are expected. * WHERE…Pacific Coast beaches. * WHEN…From Thursday afternoon through Monday evening. * IMPACTS…Sneaker waves can unexpectedly run significantly farther up the beach than normal, including over rocks and jetties. Rip currents are typically more frequent and stronger in the vicinity of jetties, inlets, and piers.

Ice accumulation most likely along the Sterling highway from Sterling to Jean Lake, and farther south from Ninilchik to Anchor Point. * WHEN…Until noon AKST today. * IMPACTS…Travel could be difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the Thursday morning commute. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS…Little to no precipitation is expected to make it west to Kenai City or Nikiski.
