The citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake reported a magnitude 4.6 quake in Colombia near Urrao, Antioquia, only 9 minutes ago. The earthquake hit early afternoon on Sunday, September 21st, 2025, at 3:18 pm local time at a shallow depth of 14.30 km. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake was probably felt by many people in the area of the epicenter. It should not have caused significant damage, other than objects falling from shelves, broken windows, etc.
In Urrao (pop. 18,800) located 8 km from the epicenter, the quake should have been felt as light shaking.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Betulia (pop. 15,100) located 35 km from the epicenter, Santa Fe de Antioquia (pop. 23,200) 39 km away, Frontino (pop. 20,200) 42 km away, Itaguei (pop. 281,900) 64 km away, Bello (pop. 392,900) 64 km away, Caldas (pop. 82,200) 65 km away, Envigado (pop. 163,000) 65 km away, and Medellin (pop. 2,000,000) 65 km away.
