An earthquake of magnitude 3.3 occurred only 23 minutes ago 4 km southeast of Pozzuoli, Italy, Italy’s National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) reported.
The quake hit at a very shallow depth of 2.70 km beneath the epicenter near Pozzuoli, Naples, Campania, Italy, late at night on Tuesday, November 25th, 2025, at 11:21 pm local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
A second report was later issued by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), which listed it as a magnitude 3.3 earthquake as well.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake was probably felt by many people in the area of the epicenter. It should not have caused significant damage, other than objects falling from shelves, broken windows, etc.
In Bagnoli (pop. 23,300) located 3 km from the epicenter, the quake should have been felt as light shaking.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Pozzuoli (pop. 81,200) located 4 km from the epicenter, Pianura (pop. 57,800) 4 km away, Soccavo (pop. 45,300) 5 km away, Fuorigrotta (pop. 76,500) 5 km away, Quarto (pop. 37,700) 6 km away, Marano di Napoli (pop. 49,900)
