Dry conditions and breezy winds will lead to elevated fire weather conditions this afternoon. West winds of 12 to 18 mph with gusts of 25 to 35 mph are forecast for this afternoon. Minimum relative humidity values of 24 to 34 percent are also expected. Together, these conditions could lead to the rapid spread of fires. Check burning restrictions and fire danger before burning. The combination of low relative humidity values, gusty westerly winds, and dry fuels will result in elevated fire weather conditions this afternoon across western and southwestern Wisconsin. Afternoon relative humidity values fall to around 25 to 30 percent with winds of 10 to 20 mph, gusting to 25 to 30 mph. Under these conditions, fires will start and spread easily. Please exercise caution with any activities that involve outdoor fires or create sparks, including campfires, grilling, and operating large equipment. Cigarettes should be disposed of and extinguished properly. Please heed any local burn bans.
