Perception and Computer Vision

Work description

The automation of internal logistics operations using mobile forklift robots (autonomous stackers) requires advanced visual perception capabilities. The challenge is to develop systems capable of:

Accurately detecting the position where forks should be inserted to handle pallets and shipping boxes. Automatically assessing the condition of pallets to avoid damage to the load or accidents during transport. Ensuring safe and efficient operations in dynamic industrial environments.

Academic Qualifications

Master’s Degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering.

Minimum profile required

Enrollment in a PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering. Proven experience in R&D projects. Knowledge of ROS (Robot Operating System). Experience in C/C++ programming. Experience with Artificial Intelligence frameworks.

Preference factors

Knowledge of AI and Computer Vision. Experience with RGB-D, Stereo and Structured Light image sensors. Python programming skills.

Maintenance stipend: €

University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign Job Categories Post-Doc
Academic Fields Bioengineering (all Bio-related fields)

The Biomedical Optical Imaging Laboratory at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign invites applications for a postdoctoral associate to drive our research on how chromatin organization and epigenetic regulation influence cancer therapy resistance. Our group pioneers and integrates super-resolution microscopy, highly multiplexed fluorescence imaging, and quantitative phase imaging to investigate morphodynamic and molecular changes that underlie treatment failure and cancer progression.

You will join a multidisciplinary team of engineers and data

Computer Science

Work description

Development of model/process chains that enable AI-based assistants to support human operators’ decisions in power systems under model risk and uncertainty, and considering joint human-AI learning. Develop methodologies to assess the robustness and safety of human decisions assisted by AI, hybrid co-learning between AI and humans, and fully autonomous AI, considering risk assessment aligned with the EU AI Act, as well as reliability and robustness quantified through the provision of guidelines on how to create and use “adversarial” datasets. Validate the developed methodologies using real data and simulators. Dissemination of the work in national and/or international journals and conferences.
