The Austin College Department of Physics and Engineering invites applications for the tenure-track Assistant Professor of Engineering. Candidates must have PhD in hand before the position begins in August 2026.

The department has five faculty members and is home to undergraduate degree programs in engineering, engineering physics, and physics. The Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree program was launched in Fall 2025 and is growing rapidly. Students may choose to complete a concentration in mechanical or electrical engineering, or graduate without a concentration. We plan to add more concentrations in the coming years.

The program benefits from the strong growth of the semiconductor industry. Major companies are investing heavily in semiconductor fabrication facilities in Sherman TX, creating abundant opportunities for Austin College engineering students and faculty. This is enhanced by the College’s proximity to the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. The College is also a founding

Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), the first university globally to host an IBM utility-scale quantum computer on campus, invites applications from visionary postdocs to join a pioneering research initiative at the intersection of quantum computing and nuclear engineering. This is a rare opportunity to shape the future of energy systems through transformative, cross-disciplinary innovation.

In April 2024, RPI and IBM unveiled the world’s first-ever IBM Quantum System One on a university campus. Located in the historic Voorhees Computing Center Chapel, the IBM Quantum System One has significantly enhanced educational and research opportunities for RPI, as well as with other academic institutions and organizations across the Capital Region of New York. Faculty, students, research scientists, and collaborators accessing the system will advance quantum computing research, including the search for quantum algorithms that could fundamentally change the computing field.

We seek an accomplished and forward-thinking researcher whose
