An earthquake of magnitude 5.2 occurred in the morning on Monday, August 11th, 2025, at 8:54 am local time near Dededo Village, Dededo, Guam, as reported by Indonesia’s Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency.
According to preliminary data, the quake was located at a moderately shallow depth of 46. km. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) which listed the quake at magnitude 5.0. A third agency, the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake, reported the same quake at magnitude 5.0.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Yigo Village (pop. 20,500) located 116 km from the epicenter, Dededo Village (pop. 44,900) 121 km away, Mangilao Village (pop. 15,200) 124 km away, Barrigada Village (pop. 8,900) 125 km away, Yona Village (pop. 6,500) 126 km away, Mongmong-Toto-Maite Village (pop. 6,800) 127 km away, Tamuning-Tumon-Harmon Village (pop. 19,700) 127 km away, and Chalan Pago-Ordot Village (pop. 6,800) 129
