Just 15 minutes ago, a 3.6-magnitude earthquake struck near Merredin, Western Australia, Australia. The tremor was recorded early afternoon on Monday, July 14th, 2025, at 2:20 pm local time, at a very shallow depth of 1.3 miles below the surface.
The event was filed by Geoscience Australia (GeoAu), the first seismological agency to report it.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) which listed the quake at magnitude 3.6 as well.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake was probably felt by many people in the area of the epicenter. It should not have caused significant damage, other than objects falling from shelves, broken windows, etc.
In South Yelbeni (pop. 29) located 3 miles from the epicenter, the quake should have been felt as light shaking.
Weak shaking might have been felt in South Trayning (pop. 42) located 7 miles from the epicenter.
Other towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Korrelocking (pop. 50) located 15 miles from the epicenter, North Tammin (pop. 120) 16 miles away, Wyalkatchem (pop. 400) 20 miles away, Kellerberrin (pop. 960) 23 miles away, Tammin (pop. 190) 27 miles away, Merredin (pop. 2,900) 36 miles away, and Cunderdin (pop. 890) 37 miles away.
