Areas of fog along with pockets of locally dense fog have developed across central Indiana with visibilities reduced to a quarter mile or less. These conditions could persist through 9 AM. If driving through an area with reduced visibility, slow down, use low-beam headlights, and leave plenty of distance.

Tue, 29 Jul 2025, 09:55 | BY: EARTHQUAKEMONITOR

A magnitude 2.5 earthquake near Rheinfelden, Freiburg Region, Baden-Wurttemberg, Germany, was reported only 11 minutes ago by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), considered one of the key international agencies that monitor seismic activity worldwide. The earthquake occurred at a very shallow depth of 6.10 km beneath the epicenter in the morning on Tuesday, July 29th, 2025, at 11:42 am local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the Swiss Seismological Service (SED) which listed the quake at magnitude 2.5 as well.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Schopfheim (pop. 19,400) located 3 km from the epicenter, Rheinfelden (pop. 32,500) 7 km away, Rheinfelden (Baden) (pop. 32,500) 7 km away, Loerrach (pop. 47,000) 12 km away, and Bad Sackingen (pop. 16,500) 12 km away. In Weil am Rhein (pop. 29,500, 15 km away), Liestal (pop. 12,800, 16 km away), and Basel (pop. 164,500, 20 km away), the quake was probably not felt.

If you felt it, report it through our site or app right now!
