A magnitude 4.6 earthquake near Naga, Camarines Sur, Bicol, Philippines, was reported only 7 minutes ago by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS), considered the main national agency that monitors seismic activity in this part of the world. The earthquake occurred at a shallow depth of 10. km beneath the epicenter early morning on Monday, August 25th, 2025, at 3:29 am local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake was probably felt by many people in the area of the epicenter. It should not have caused significant damage, other than objects falling from shelves, broken windows, etc.
In Bao (pop. 3,000) located 6 km from the epicenter, the quake should have been felt as light shaking.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Naga (pop. 174,900) located 33 km from the epicenter, Magarao (pop. 15,200) 33 km away, Calabanga (pop. 26,800) 36 km away, Daet (pop. 78,100) 51 km away, Iriga City (pop. 114,500) 63 km away, and Libon (pop. 68,800) 73 km away.
