Just 20 minutes ago, a 2.7-magnitude earthquake struck near Notre-Dame-du-Mont-Carmel, Outaouais, Quebec, Canada. The tremor was recorded early afternoon on Monday, September 22nd, 2025, at 3:04 pm local time, at a shallow depth of 10.6 miles below the surface.
The event was filed by the Department of Natural Resources Canada (NRCAN), the first seismological agency to report it.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from The Incorporated Research Institutions for Seismology (IRIS) which listed the quake at magnitude 2.8. Other agencies reporting the same quake include the United States Geological Survey at magnitude 2.8, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) at magnitude 2.8, and the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake at magnitude 2.7.
According to preliminary calculations, we do not expect that the quake was felt by many people and did not cause any damage. In Notre-Dame-du-Mont-Carmel (pop. 1,100, 10 miles away), La Minerve (pop. 1,200, 14 miles away), Riviere-Rouge (pop. 4,600, 24 miles away), Mont-Tremblant (pop. 8,900, 29 miles away), Buckingham (pop. 16,700, 40 miles away), Clarence-Rockland (pop. 20,800, 41 miles away), and Clarence-Rockland (pop. 20,800, 41 miles away), the quake was probably not felt.
