A moderately shallow magnitude 4.9 earthquake was reported around noon near Pondaguitan, Davao Oriental, Davao, Philippines.
According to Indonesia’s Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency, the quake hit on Tuesday, October 7th, 2025, at 12:14 pm local time at a moderately shallow depth of 45. km. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake which listed the quake at magnitude 4.9 as well.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Pondaguitan (pop. 2,100) located 103 km from the epicenter, and Caburan (pop. 12,600) 112 km away.
