Just 6 minutes ago, a 4.5-magnitude earthquake struck near Ambon, Kota Ambon, Maluku, Indonesia. The tremor was recorded in the evening on Monday, September 22nd, 2025, at 9:06 pm local time, at an intermediate depth of 128. km below the surface.
The event was filed by Indonesia’s Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency, the first seismological agency to report it.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Amahai (pop. 47,700) located 50 km from the epicenter, Ambon (pop. 347,300) 53 km away, and Masohi (pop. 36,400) 57 km away.
