An earthquake of magnitude 3.8 occurred only 5 minutes ago 52 miles southeast of Old Harbor, Alaska, United States, the United States Geological Survey reported.
The quake hit at a very shallow depth of 0.1 miles beneath the epicenter near Old Harbor, Kodiak Island, Alaska, USA, early morning on Monday, September 1st, 2025, at 1:07 am local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from The Incorporated Research Institutions for Seismology (IRIS) which listed the quake at magnitude 3.8 as well. A third agency, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), reported the same quake at magnitude 3.8.
According to preliminary calculations, we do not expect that the quake was felt by many people and did not cause any damage. In Old Harbor (pop. 220, 52 miles away), the quake was probably not felt.

If you felt it, report it through our site or app right now!
