Just 10 minutes ago, a 4.5-magnitude earthquake struck near Luwuk, Banggai Regency, Sulawesi Tengah, Indonesia. The tremor was recorded early morning on Wednesday, July 2nd, 2025, at 3:55 am local time, at a shallow depth of 10. km below the surface.
The event was filed by Indonesia’s Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency, the first seismological agency to report it.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) which listed the quake at magnitude 4.4.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Luwuk (pop. 47,800) located 107 km from the epicenter.
