Krasheninnikov (Kamchatka, Russia): Explosive activity continues. Volcanic Ash Advisory Center (VAAC) Tokyo warned about a volcanic ash plume that rose up to estimated 20000 ft (6100 m) altitude or flight level 200 and is moving at 20 kts in SE direction.

A new eruption started at the volcano, the first recorded in historic times, ending a century-long period of dormancy. The eruption began Sunday early morning (4:50 am local time, or 16:50 pm GMT on 2 Aug) with explosions from a summit vent that sent ash plumes
