Area observations and nighttime infrared satellite imagery indicate that fog is expanding across portions of southeast Georgia and along the Interstate 10 corridor in the Suwannee Valley and portions of inland northeast Florida. We expect locally dense fog to expand in coverage as the predawn and early morning hours progress, and Dense Fog Advisories may become necessary for portions of our area towards sunrise. Motorists should remain alert for sudden changes in visibility during the early morning commute, especially in low spots and near marshes, rivers, creeks or lakes. Fog is expected to dissipate by the mid-morning hours today.

The hazardous conditions could impact the Thursday evening and Friday morning commutes. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS…Snow will develop from east to west across the western Kenai Peninsula this afternoon and evening. The heaviest snow is expected late this evening through early Friday morning before tapering off. Northerly winds will also increase from tonight into early tomorrow morning, which may result in localized areas of blowing and drifting snow,

Travel could be very difficult. Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions could impact the Thursday evening commute. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS…Strong winds are now forecast to persist through early tomorrow morning. Though there will be a break in snowfall later this afternoon and evening, continued strong winds may loft transportable snow and maintain lower visibilities.
