An earthquake of magnitude 5.7 occurred only 10 minutes ago 23 km southwest of Lima, Peru, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) reported.
The quake hit at a moderately shallow depth of 66. km beneath the epicenter near Lima, Lima Province, Peru, in the morning on Sunday, June 15th, 2025, at 11:35 am local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from France’s Réseau National de Surveillance Sismique (RéNaSS) which listed the quake at magnitude 5.4. Other agencies reporting the same quake include the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake at magnitude 5.6, the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) at magnitude 5.6, and The Colombian Geological Service (SGC) at magnitude 5.9.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake was probably felt by many people in the area of the epicenter. It should not have caused significant damage, other than objects falling from shelves, broken windows, etc.
In Callao (pop. 1,300,000) located 15 km from the epicenter, Carmen De La Legua Reynoso (pop. 41,900) 17 km away, San Isidro (pop. 68,300) 19 km away, Jesus Maria (pop. 66,200) 20 km away, Brena (pop. 81,900)

The earthquake hit late at night on Sunday, June 15th, 2025, at 11:31 pm local time at a shallow depth of 10. km. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Singaparna (pop. 48,900) located 110 km from the epicenter, and Banjar (pop. 201,000) 116 km away.
