The German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) reported a magnitude 3.5 quake in Poland near Lubin, Lubin County, Lower Silesian Voivodeship, only 4 minutes ago. The earthquake hit early morning on Monday, May 19th, 2025, at 5:46 am local time at a shallow depth of 10. km. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
A second report was later issued by the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake, which listed it as a magnitude 3.5 earthquake as well.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Lubin (pop. 77,500) located 4 km from the epicenter, and Polkowice (pop. 21,600) 11 km away.
Other towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Legnica (pop. 106,000) located 25 km from the epicenter, Glogow (pop. 67,300) 27 km away, Zlotoryja (pop. 15,600) 38 km away, Jawor (pop. 23,900) 42 km away, and Boleslawiec (pop. 40,700) 46 km away. In Jelenia Gora (pop. 87,300, 67 km
