An earthquake of magnitude 4.1 occurred only 10 minutes ago 10 km east of Tokyo, Japan, the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake reported.
The quake hit at an intermediate depth of 80. km beneath the epicenter near Tokyo, Japan, around noon on Sunday, May 4th, 2025, at 12:35 pm local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Higashi-nihombashi (pop. 5,600) located 1 km from the epicenter, Tokyo (pop. 8,336,600) 10 km away, Urayasu (pop. 171,400) 10 km away, Matsudo (pop. 498,600) 13 km away, Komae (pop. 83,200) 22 km away, Musashino (pop. 147,500) 22 km away, Chofu (pop. 213,000) 23 km away, Nishi-Tokyo-shi (pop. 195,200) 24 km away, Saitama (pop. 1,324,900) 26 km away, and Yokohama (pop. 3,761,600) 33 km away.
