An earthquake of magnitude 4.6 occurred only 10 minutes ago 48 km northeast of Manila, Philippines, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) reported.
The quake hit at a shallow depth of 11. km beneath the epicenter near Manila, Capital District, National Capital Region, Philippines, after midnight on Wednesday, May 28th, 2025, at 12:17 am local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake was probably felt by many people in the area of the epicenter. It should not have caused significant damage, other than objects falling from shelves, broken windows, etc.
In Rodriguez (pop. 134,400) located 20 km from the epicenter, the quake should have been felt as light shaking.

A shallow magnitude 4.5 earthquake was reported late at night near Laoang, Northern Samar, Eastern Visayas, Philippines.
According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS), the quake hit on Tuesday, May 27th, 2025, at 10:31 pm local time at a shallow depth of 10. km. Shallow earthquakes are felt more strongly than deeper ones as they are closer to the surface. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter.
