Spain’s Instituto Geográfico Nacional (IGN) reported a magnitude 2.3 quake in Spain near Santa Pola, Alicante, Valencia, only 12 minutes ago. The earthquake hit in the afternoon on Saturday, October 11th, 2025, at 5:11 pm local time at a very shallow depth of 4. km. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake which listed the quake at magnitude 2.3 as well. A third agency, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), reported the same quake at magnitude 2.3.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Santa Pola (pop. 31,800) located 4 km from the epicenter. In Guardamar del Segura (pop. 16,300, 11 km away), Rojales (pop. 20,500, 16 km away), Elche (pop. 230,100, 17 km away), Alicante (pop. 334,800, 22 km away), Torrevieja (pop. 101,800, 22 km away), San Vicent del Raspeig (pop. 56,700, 27 km away), and Orihuela (pop. 86,200, 34 km away), the quake was probably not felt.
