An earthquake of magnitude 4.6 occurred only 3 minutes ago 30 miles northwest of Trapper Creek, Alaska, United States, the United States Geological Survey reported.
The quake hit at an intermediate depth of 52 miles beneath the epicenter near Trapper Creek, Matanuska-Susitna, Alaska, USA, in the morning on Wednesday, August 6th, 2025, at 10:38 am local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Trapper Creek (pop. 480) located 30 miles from the epicenter, Susitna North (pop. 1,300) 45 miles away, and Willow (pop. 2,100) 60 miles away.
