The European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) reported a magnitude 4.4 quake in Mexico near Puerto Escondido, San Pedro Mixtepec -Dto. 22 -, Estado de Oaxaca, only 29 minutes ago. The earthquake hit in the morning on Sunday, October 5th, 2025, at 8:09 am local time at a shallow depth of 10. km. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.

Weak shaking might have been felt in Bajos de Chila (pop. 5,400) located 20 km from the epicenter, Puerto Escondido (pop.
