Just 11 minutes ago, a 4.6-magnitude earthquake struck near Mati, Davao Oriental, Davao, Philippines. The tremor was recorded in the afternoon on Wednesday, September 17th, 2025, at 4:43 pm local time, at a shallow depth of 10. km below the surface.
The event was filed by Indonesia’s Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency, the first seismological agency to report it.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Bobon (pop. 4,500) located 49 km from the epicenter, San Ignacio (pop. 6,300) 59 km away, Mati (pop. 105,900) 65 km away, Manay (pop. 20,300) 67 km away, Tibanbang (pop. 7,800) 67 km away, Sigaboy (pop. 8,000) 70 km away, and Batobato (pop. 9,700) 72 km away.
Other towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Lupon (pop. 27,200) located 82 km from the epicenter.
