The European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) reported a magnitude 4.5 quake in the Philippines near Tuguegarao, Cagayan, Cagayan Valley, only 15 minutes ago. The earthquake hit after midnight on Saturday, October 11th, 2025, at 12:54 am local time at a shallow depth of 19. km. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) which listed the quake at magnitude 4.8. A third agency, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS), reported the same quake at magnitude 4.2.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Lapi (pop. 2,800) located 57 km from the epicenter.
Other towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Cabagan (pop. 25,300) located 72 km from the epicenter, Tuguegarao (pop. 166,300) 74 km away, Ilagan (pop. 72,400) 76 km away, Nattapian (pop. 11,900) 76 km away, Enrile (pop. 9,700) 77 km away,
