The European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) reported a magnitude 5.6 quake in Mexico near Santa Rosalia, Mulegé Municipality, Estado de Baja California Sur, only 11 minutes ago. The earthquake hit early morning on Friday, November 7th, 2025, at 5:04 am local time at a shallow depth of 10. km. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake which listed the quake at magnitude 5.6 as well.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake was probably felt by many people in the area of the epicenter. It should not have caused significant damage, other than objects falling from shelves, broken windows, etc.
In Santa Rosalia (pop. 11,800) located 64 km from the epicenter, the quake should have been felt as light shaking.
Weak shaking might have been felt in San Carlos (pop. 2,300) located 93 km from the epicenter, Guaymas (pop. 113,100) 107 km away, Empalme (pop. 42,500) 116 km away, and Miguel Aleman (La Doce) (pop. 30,900) 120 km away.
