Just 8 minutes ago, a 4.8-magnitude earthquake struck near Glan, Province of Sarangani, Soccsksargen, Philippines. The tremor was recorded in the afternoon on Friday, June 13th, 2025, at 4:13 pm local time, at a shallow depth of 10. km below the surface.
The event was filed by Indonesia’s Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency, the first seismological agency to report it.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake was probably felt by many people in the area of the epicenter. It should not have caused significant damage, other than objects falling from shelves, broken windows, etc.
In Sarangani (pop. 7,500) located 28 km from the epicenter, the quake should have been felt as light shaking.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Balangonan (pop. 2,300) located 41 km from the epicenter, Bukid (pop. 2,200) 42 km away, Butulan (pop. 2,400) 47 km away, Nuing (pop. 2,600) 49 km away, Glan (pop. 24,300) 69 km away, and Malapatan (pop. 19,400) 84 km away.
Other towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Alabel (pop. 43,300) located 99 km from the epicenter, and General Santos (pop. 697,300) 101 km away.
