For the High Rip Current Risk, dangerous rip currents. * WHERE…North facing reefs of the Marianas. * WHEN…Until 6 AM ChST Monday. * IMPACTS…Dangerous swimming and surfing conditions and localized beach erosion. Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS…A long-period north swell is producing 9 to 11 foot waves along north facing reefs. This swell is produced by the distant typhoon Neoguri. This swell is expected to increase over the weekend.

Just 12 minutes ago, a 4.5-magnitude earthquake struck near Carora, Torres Municipality, Lara, Venezuela. The tremor was recorded after midnight on Thursday, September 25th, 2025, at 12:06 am local time, at a very shallow depth of 5. km below the surface.
The event was filed by The Colombian Geological Service (SGC), the first seismological agency to report it.
A second report was later issued by the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake, which listed it as a magnitude 4.5 earthquake as well.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Carora (pop. 121,700) located 43 km from the epicenter.
Other towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Dabajuro (pop. 28,100) located 76 km from the epicenter, Mene de Mauroa (pop. 19,200) 76 km away, Mene Grande (pop. 60,600) 84 km away, El Tocuyo (pop. 74,800) 95 km away, and Lagunillas (pop. 44,300) 98 km away.
