An earthquake of magnitude 2.8 occurred 39 minutes ago 18 km east of Paphos, Cyprus, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) reported.
The quake hit at a shallow depth of 18. km beneath the epicenter near Paphos, Pafos, Cyprus, around noon on Thursday, November 13th, 2025, at 12:08 pm local time. Magnitude and other quake parameters can still change in the coming hours as the agency continues to process seismic data.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from Turkey’s Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) which listed the quake at magnitude 2.7. Other agencies reporting the same quake include The Cyprus Geological Survey (CGS) at magnitude 2.8, the Kandilli Oservatory and Earthquake Research Institute in Istanbul (KOERI-RETMC) at magnitude 3.0, and the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake at magnitude 2.7.

A shallow magnitude 4.9 earthquake was reported in the afternoon near Vigan, Ilocos Sur, Ilocos, Philippines.
According to Indonesia’s Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency, the quake hit on Thursday, November 13th, 2025, at 5:56 pm local time at a shallow depth of 10. km. Shallow earthquakes are felt more strongly than deeper ones as they are closer to the surface. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Pagsanahan Norte (pop. 2,100) located 36 km from the epicenter, Puro Pinget (pop. 4,000) 37 km away, Badoc (pop. 4,300) 39 km away, Cabugao (pop. 6,900) 39 km away, Bantay (pop. 10,100) 47 km away, Vigan (pop. 48,500) 47 km away, Batac City (pop. 55,500) 51 km away, San Nicolas (pop. 34,200) 59 km away, and Laoag (pop. 102,100) 61 km away.
