An intermediate magnitude 3.9 earthquake was reported early morning near Kalifornsky, Kenai Peninsula, Alaska, USA.
According to the United States Geological Survey, the quake hit on Saturday, April 19th, 2025, at 5:01 am local time at an intermediate depth of 49 miles. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) which listed the quake at magnitude 3.9 as well.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Ninilchik (pop. 880) located 15 miles from the epicenter, Cohoe (pop. 1,400) 24 miles away, and Kalifornsky (pop. 7,900) 26 miles away. In Anchor Point (pop. 1,900, 31 miles away), Kenai (pop. 7,700, 32 miles away), Soldotna (pop. 4,500, 35 miles away), Nikiski (pop. 4,500, 39 miles away), and Homer (pop. 5,500, 42 miles away), the quake was probably not felt.
