Winds are expected to rapidly shift to the southwest late Friday morning to early afternoon, followed by strongest gusts. Towards Craig and Klawock, expecting gusts up to 65 mph associated with the wind shift.

..FLOOD WATCH FOR KAUAI AND NIIHAU… * WHAT…Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE…Niihau and Kauai. * WHEN…Through Friday afternoon. * IMPACTS…Flood prone roads and other low lying areas may be closed due to elevated runoff and overflowing streams. Urban areas may receive more significant flooding and property damage due to rapid runoff. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS… – A surface trough over the Kauai Channel and bring widespread showers to Kauai and Niihau before tracking west. An approaching upper low will destabilize the atmosphere across this area and bring the potential for shower enhancement along with isolated thunderstorms that will continue through the day Friday.
