Data source: Kpler
Note: 2Q2025=second quarter of 2025

Global crude oil refinery inputs fell by 4.8 million barrels per day (b/d) in the second quarter of 2026 (2Q26), or 6%, following the start of conflict in late February in the Middle East, according to data from Kpler. Throughput then increased by 1.8 million b/d in the third quarter, primarily as refiners in the region adjusted to new trade flows.

Crude oil inputs to refineries typically increase in the second and third quarters of the year as refiners complete planned maintenance and gear up to meet peak seasonal demand for refined products, such as gasoline and jet fuel. Global crude oil inputs increased by 0.3 million b/d in the second quarter of 2025 and by another 2 million b/d in the

Scientists at CERN’s Large Hadron Collider have uncovered compelling new evidence that even relatively small atomic collisions can recreate the extraordinary state of matter that filled the universe moments after the Big Bang. Known as quark-gluon plasma, this exotic substance forms at temperatures more than 100,000 times hotter than the center of the Sun, causing ordinary particles to break apart into their fundamental building blocks.
