Just 26 minutes ago, a 3.1-magnitude earthquake struck near San Jose del Cabo, Los Cabos, Estado de Baja California Sur, Mexico. The tremor was recorded in the afternoon on Thursday, September 4th, 2025, at 4:06 pm local time, at a shallow depth of 14. km below the surface.
The event was filed by the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake, the first seismological agency to report it.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include El Ejido (pop. 16) located 1 km from the epicenter, San Jose del Cabo (pop. 69,800) 2 km away, La Playa (pop. 1,400) 5 km away, Las Veredas (pop. 10,500) 11 km away, Las Palmas (pop. 11,600) 26 km away, Colonia del Sol (pop. 48,000) 27 km away, and Cabo San Lucas (pop. 68,500) 27 km away. In Miraflores (pop. 1,400, 35 km away), and El Pescadero (pop. 2,300, 57 km away), the quake was probably not felt.
