At 608 AM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a cluster of strong thunderstorms along a line extending from near Charlotte Motor Speedway to near Wingate to near Chesterfield. Movement was northeast at 20 mph. HAZARD…Wind gusts up to 40 mph and heavy rainfall. SOURCE…Radar indicated. IMPACT…Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations impacted include… Albemarle, Rockingham, Wadesboro, Badin Lake, Ansonville, Plyler, Midland, Polkton, Locust, and Norwood.

Pockets of dense fog, locally reducing visibilities to under one half mile, will be possible through about 8 to 9 AM. The lowest visibilities will be in the vicinity of river valleys, including parts of the Kankakee, Illinois and Iroquois rivers. Motorists should be prepared for rapid changes in visibilities across short distances and allow extra following distance with the vehicle ahead of you.
