An earthquake of magnitude 4.5 occurred early morning on Friday, November 21st, 2025, at 4:08 am local time near Atambua, Belu Regency, East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia, as reported by Indonesia’s Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency.
According to preliminary data, the quake was located at an intermediate depth of 97. km. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
A second report was later issued by the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake, which listed it as a magnitude 4.6 earthquake.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Pante Makasar (pop. 4,700) located 21 km from the epicenter, Kefamenanu (pop. 48,200) 51 km away, Atambua (pop. 82,200) 67 km away, Naisano Dua (pop. 2,300) 85 km away, Soe (pop. 40,200) 92 km away, and Maliana (pop. 22,000) 102 km away.
