Just 5 minutes ago, a 3.8-magnitude earthquake struck near Hemet, Riverside County, California, USA. The tremor was recorded in the afternoon on Thursday, November 27th, 2025, at 5:36 pm local time, at a shallow depth of 10.7 miles below the surface.
The event was filed by the United States Geological Survey, the first seismological agency to report it.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from The Incorporated Research Institutions for Seismology (IRIS) which listed the quake at magnitude 3.8 as well. A third agency, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), reported the same quake at magnitude 3.6.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Mountain Center (pop. 63) located 4 miles from the epicenter, and Hemet (pop. 83,900) 11 miles away.
Other towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include San Jacinto (pop. 47,000) located 12 miles from the epicenter, Palm Springs (pop. 47,400) 18 miles away, Cathedral City (pop. 53,800) 20 miles away, Menifee (pop. 87,200) 21 miles away, Temecula (pop. 110,000) 24 miles away, Murrieta (pop. 109,800) 26 miles away,
