AQAHGX The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) has issued an Ozone Action Day for the Houston, Galveston, and Brazoria area for Tuesday, September 9, 2025. Atmospheric conditions are expected to be favorable for producing high levels of ozone pollution in the Houston, Galveston, and surrounding areas on Tuesday. You can help prevent ozone pollution by sharing a ride, walking, riding a bicycle, taking your lunch to work, avoiding drive through lanes, conserving energy and keeping your vehicle properly tuned. Just 8 minutes ago, a 4.9-magnitude earthquake struck near Surigao, Surigao del Norte, Caraga, Philippines. The tremor was recorded early morning on Tuesday, September 9th, 2025, at 2:52 am local time, at an intermediate depth of 134. km below the surface.
The event was filed by Indonesia’s Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency, the first seismological agency to report it.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake which listed the quake at magnitude 5.3. Other agencies reporting the same quake include the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) at magnitude 5.3, and the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) at magnitude 5.0.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Cagdianao (pop. 2,700) located 14 km from the epicenter, Del Carmen, Surigao del Norte (pop. 4,300) 20 km away, Dapa (pop. 8,800) 34 km away, Surigao (pop. 87,800) 37 km away, Placer (pop. 10,400) 37 km away, Socorro (pop. 9,700) 39 km away, Luna (pop. 7,800) 39 km away, Cabadbaran (pop. 31,100) 94 km away, and Butuan (pop. 309,700) 113 km away.
