The citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake reported a magnitude 3.2 quake in Mexico near San Jose del Cabo, Los Cabos, Estado de Baja California Sur, only 23 minutes ago. The earthquake hit in the morning on Saturday, September 27th, 2025, at 9:30 am local time at a shallow depth of 10. km. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter.
Weak shaking might have been felt in La Querencia (pop. 24) located 3 km from the epicenter, and San Jose del Cabo (pop. 69,800) 5 km away.
Other towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include La Playa (pop. 1,400) located 7 km from the epicenter, Las Veredas (pop. 10,500) 16 km away, Cabo San Lucas (pop. 68,500) 25 km away, Colonia del Sol (pop. 48,000) 25 km away, and Las Palmas (pop. 11,600) 26 km away.
